Delaying of the Lifting of Dispensation of Sunday Obligation

Do sự gia tăng của các ca nhiễm Covid gần đây cùng với sự quan tâm về việc lây lan của biến chủng Delta, Đức Cha Edward Burns của Giáo phận Dallas vào chiều thứ Ba ngày 10 tháng 8 đã ra sắc lệnh hoãn lại việc yêu cầu tất cả các tín hữu phải trở lại Nhà thờ để đi Lễ Chùa nhật và các ngày Lễ Buộc mà dự trù được áp dụng kể từ Chúa nhật ngày 15 tháng 8 này. Đức Cha Burns cũng yêu cầu những ai đi lễ nên đeo khẩu trang vì lòng bác ái, nhất là trong Quận hạt Dallas.

In light of the recent surge in COVID cases and concern about the spread of the Delta variant, on Tuesday August 10^th, Bishop Edward Burns has issued a decree to delay the reinstating of the requirement for Catholics to attend Mass in person in the Diocese of Dallas. The dispensation which waived this requirement had been scheduled to end on Sunday, August 15, 2021. Masses will continue to take place; however, the obligation to attend remains lifted. According to Bishop Burns the decision will be reviewed frequently as more information becomes available. Bishop Burns went on to remind those who decide to attend Mass in-person that masks are expected to be worn, especially in Dallas County.
